What is a Sound Bath?
A sound bath is a guided sound experience where participants comfortably lie (or sit) on the floor with their eyes closed to obtain a relaxed state. The practitioner plays the bowls, and creates a feeling of being bathed by sound. This creates a calmness and relaxation that is deep and profound.
We live in a culture where stress is all around us. We spend much of our time in the "fight, flight, or freeze mode (sympathetic). Sound therapy puts our nervous system into the parasympathetic mode, (rest, relax and restore) which then allows the body and mind more energy to heal. Every cell in our being is made up of waves of energy creating different vibrational frequencies. When we are physically or emotionally stressed by external or internal causes, this creates disharmony. The healing vibrations of the bowls create harmony with the energy within our body. The soothing sounds and vibrations can bring us back into balance and allow us to heal and soothe body and mind.
The many benefits of sound therapy include:
- Reduced stress
- Lower blood pressure
- Lower cholesterol levels
- Better pain management
- Improved sleep
- Less anxiety and stress
- More focus
- Elevated mood
- Relief from addictions...
During the sessions crystal healing bowls, metal Tibetan bowls, the tongue drum and other instruments are used depending on the needs and desires of the client. The bowls are placed near the client and/or on different places on the body allowing the vibrations to penetrate the tissue and organs. Sessions are also customizable and may include yoga and other mindfulness activities.
